Greetings. These are pictures from my trip to Ireland, including Westport, County Sligo, Achill Island, Connemara, Cong, and Galway. After arriving in Westport and checking into the Westport Plaza Hotel, I walked around the town and soaked in the sights. It was absolutely beautiful. I toured all over the western part of Ireland, including visiting a woolen mill (great shopping), visiting Lissadell House, whose owners are friends with King Charles III and had lots of photos with him, moving on to the rough, yet glorious Achill Island and then onto the National Famine monument. Next stop was Connemara, an unbelievably scenic landscape. Saw horses in the countryside and also stopped to visit Kylemore Abbey, located next to a large lake. It was a blustery day by the time I arrived and the winds off the lake drenched me as I walked across the access to the Abbey alongside the lake. Final stop on the trip was a day spent in Cong and Galway. Cong is where John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara filmed The Quiet Man. A statue is there commemorating the event and there is a magnificent castle, Ashford Castle, nearby where they stayed while filming.
